Americans aren’t asking to be rich. They’re asking to breathe. To buy groceries without stress. To fill up gas without calculating it. To not panic over a $70 CVS run. That’s where we are.

You can't access the subtle energy necessary for growth through a nervous system that's still in survival. Change is a physiological problem more than problem of willpower. Dense nervous systems are adapted from years of stress, poor sleep, and disconnection from the body's signals. The system learned to go numb because numb was safer than feeling everything. The path back isn't meditation apps and gratitude journals. It's re-teaching the body that safety and rhythm are real. That the daily cycle of exertion and rest is what your HPA axis was always asking for — and needs to be aligned with. Interoception, the ability to feel inward, only comes online when the threat response quiets down. You can't sense what's subtle when your body is bracing.

Imagine you are a working father living in the Midwest, you make 75k a year. You can support your family, but you're not rich. You worry about paying for college. Then you read about some Somalian stealing $1m out of federal healthcare programs. $1 million for the normal guy would eliminate an enormous amount of his stress. The college thing would be covered. Retirement wouldn't appear so daunting. It's why guys like this buy lottery tickets. And instead he pays into the system and watches "newcomers" make a complete ass out of him. This fraud is bad financially, but it just makes a mockery of all the hard work of normal people and tears away at the social fabric.
