Samuk, the dog we rescued with skin issues, an eye injury, kidney problems, and a blood parasite, has now been diagnosed with stage four chronic kidney disease. This is not the news we were hoping for. But it is where we are, and we will do everything we can to keep him comfortable and as stable as possible. His appetite comes and goes, and he is receiving daily subcutaneous fluids to support his kidneys. He is also still slightly anemic due to the blood parasite. Nikki, the dog we rescued with a severe wound on his neck and another on his testicles, is still admitted at our clinic where his wounds are cleaned daily. He is also underweight, so part of his recovery now is helping him regain strength. Once he has fully recovered and his body is stronger, we will schedule his neuter surgery. Bridgette, the older dog we rescued after she collapsed on a busy bridge, is now cancer free after completing five rounds of chemotherapy. She handled the treatment well overall, with some weight loss but nothing too concerning. Because of her age and her spondylosis, a condition that causes painful bone spurs along the spine, Bridgette has now moved to our Care Unit, a space dedicated to dogs who need a little extra care and attention. She’s settling in nicely and adjusting well to her new routine. Charm, the senior dog with the large head wound, fractured leg, heartworm, and blindness in one eye, is now neutered, fully vaccinated, and has moved into Shelter Five, just behind the clinic for easy monitoring. An old box. Five newborn lives 🥺 A box was left at our gate, with a short note asking for help. Inside were five newborn puppies, just a few days old. Someone had left them there, three males and two females, all already in very fragile condition. They arrived weak and malnourished, their small bodies heavily infested with fleas. All were suffering from skin infections, with inflamed, pus-filled wounds caused by external parasites. One male puppy had a severely infected umbilical cord, with tissue necrosis beneath the skin. Two of the female puppies were also in critical condition, with infections and maggots present in their genital areas. Our team began immediate care, including wound cleaning, parasite removal, and intensive supportive treatment. Despite our efforts, one boy and one girl have passed away. The remaining three are still under close care, and we are doing everything we can to help them pull through. Lulu, the puppy we found all alone with a dangerously high fever and a blood parasite, has now completed her treatment. Recent blood tests show encouraging improvement across the board. Steevie, the dog we rescued on our feeding route covered in wounds, is continuing treatment at our clinic for heartworm and liver function issues. When we found her, she appeared to be vision impaired, but it was actually caused by the blood parasite affecting her system. Remember Maya? She was rescued in August 2020 where she was diagnosed with severe demodex (the most common form of mange) and scabies. Her hairless face was cracked, bleeding, and oozing pus. It’s an incredibly painful and uncomfortable condition that can be successfully treated if caught in time. Once in our care, Maya went on to make a full recovery. She moved into one of the main shelter areas, but after being bullied, we moved her to another area where she fit in perfectly. After five years in our care, Maya is still shy around people. That’s ok with us. one thing i wish i could change about thailand are all the stray dogs and cats they’re literally everywhere, especially outside the city there are whole gangs of dogs many of them are sick and have never been to a vet i wish i could take them all with me
