Science investigation but make it filled with pumpkin exploration! We carved open a pumpkin & explored its attributes using our five senses. Friends came up with discoveries of: “bumpy”, “slimy”, “stringy”, and more! #1LISD
Kicking off pumpkins week with shape identification around the classroom! Friends went on a “hunt through the pumpkin patch” in our classroom to find pumpkin shapes to match. #1LISD
ELE is rounding out the essential unit of study: My Friends and Family. Kicking off the week with friendship bracelets! Working as a team to sort beads by color & using one to one correspondence to count # of beads and then create friendship bracelets together! #1LISD
Finishing Pet week with a STEAM centered activity to create homes for our animal. Building fine motor skills by sticking marshmallows on toothpicks, developing strategies & problem solving, experimenting with cause & effect, and more. #1LISD
Creating AB patterns on our pet pictures! Patterns help children make predictions & begin to understand what comes next. They also help children learn how to make logical connections and use reasoning skills. #1LISD
Guided Drawing this week meant creating pictures of our pets/ animals we would like to have as a pet. One of our ELE friends drew her cat, Abigail! #1LISD
Literacy & Phonological Awareness circle time brought Letter B writing. Letter identification, forming sounds, writing the letter, and more. Look at our friends rock writing the letter B! #1LISD
Taking our pets theme around the campus by “find lost pets”! Matching is a precursor to learning how to classify items, identify relationships between them, & identify properties of objects that are the same. #1LISD
Pets week brought dice rolling and dog spot drawing to our ELE class! Sound on to hear some big counting skills building and wiggly bodies engaged in their learning. So proud of our little learners! #1LISD
Sorting “pet fish” by color & then using one to one correspondence to count the # of fish in each color category. Friends compared and contrasted numbers of fish using words like “more, less, most, & few”. #1LISD
Kicking off Pets week by helping keep our pets healthy via veterinarian checkup. Friends filled out a health check list and then found/ used vet tools to help their per feel better again. #1LISD
Family week called for making houses. Sound on for this one! Friends are working on pre-reading & literacy skills, building expressive language by requesting and labeling items, following multi-step directions, & more. #1LISD
A small snippet of our morning greeting time. This sets the tone for a day of cooperation, focus, attention & connection. Because children choose their greeting, greeting rituals also foster success, empowerment & structured autonomy! #1LISD
Continuing our “All About My Name” week by sorting out letters in our name! We then extended our learning by writing names freely around the sticker names. Friends are working on letter recognition, following multi-step directions independently, fine motor skills, & more. #1LISD
