They blame Talankin for failing to mention Ukraine, and yet, remind me: has any Ukrainian influencer said anything in solidarity with Russian political prisoners? When Navalny called for support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, reparations from Russia, etc., did you support him? No. When he was later killed in prison, your lot celebrated it and brought sandwiches to his makeshift memorials. When Xenia Fadeyeva and other high-profile political prisoners were exchanged, you openly protested. You spent years character-assassinating every Russian national who uttered anything against Putin. Why are you all of a sudden surprised that anti-regime Russians prefer not to associate specifically with your cause? Navalny’s movie director mentioned Ukraine by name in his Oscar speech, and yet you all hated him nonetheless. Solidarity is a two-way street. If you demand solidarity, you must be willing to extend it. It’s as simple as that. Other social movements understand this, and successful ones build big tents.
