@DavidLeninhawk @bob_noss Ours might do that, but that switch might not be turned on and our managers don't know how to do it. If it is an empty yheatre, most of the time, thst movoe just plays until it is over.

@tvmanplusmore @bob_noss Our projectors turned off automatically after 30 mins if no tickets were purchased. That was at least allowed by corporate, primarily as a bulb-saving measure.

@DavidLeninhawk @bob_noss We had one manager who used to turn off the projector 30 minutes after start time if no one was in there, but except for that, we would just let the show play. Never listed it as "sold out".

@tvmanplusmore @bob_noss Mine did it a few times. They're not supposed to, but scheduling kids or unpopular movies late and "selling out" the screening was a tactic to ensure the managers have less to do at the end of the night while still technically having the contractual amount of showings.

@bob_noss I wouldn't be surprised if the theater managers "sold out" the showing to make it easier on themselves (ushers don't have to clean up after the 7:20 set and can let overnight cleaners handle it, etc)

@tvmanplusmore The seasons hosted by Martha Stewart and Arnold tell me it would need to be heavily reworked for that to be the case. Trump is only one of the problems.

@DavidLeninhawk Where's the Deadline or Hollywood Reporter article about how this is actually successful? JK!

.@DavidLeninhawk My coworkers were looking at my Letterboxd followers and were ultimately drawn to you. That's when I told them "Yeah, ironically his last name is 'Leninhawk' and he is a communist! He also brought the chicken fries back to BK." They were a little impressed.

@artwithinpod This is why we need to advocate for interoperability. That way, if a site decides to enshittify itself, much like the site we are on now, we can move ourselves, and all of our history, and followers, to a site that does the same thing as Letterboxd, with just a few clicks.

@DavidLeninhawk It had to for the subject matter. I'm not a music fan, but I can name you songs from QUEEN, Elton John, and Michael Jackson. I couldn't tell you one from Bob Dylan. That's why it should be praised for at least telling a story people liked. DMfN told a story, but no one cared.

@DavidLeninhawk Considering that, I don't think that we give A COMPLETE UNKNOWN enough credit. It's not really jukebox, and it's a movie about a singer for boomers, daring to play different music at a folk festival. The fact that the movie was a success is a testament to Mangold and Chalamet.

@tvmanplusmore It wasn't a collection of scenes of him playing his biggest hits. That's what people seem to want from these things.

My ★★★½ review of Gone with the Wind (1939) on @letterboxd: boxd.it/e7F449 This is probably the longest review I have ever written. Makes sense for such an important film to American cinematic history.

@DavidLeninhawk I hate when people talk about critics like they are a group. If there is one group that is independent of group think, it's critics.
