"One hundred and ninety-three million acres of your national forests. An area larger than Texas. The largest public land agency in the country. Just handed, on a silver platter, to the people who’ve spent their entire careers trying to destroy it. And they did it with a press release on a Tuesday." hatchmag.com/articles/trump…

I keep saying this is all pro wrestling. Hegseth does his mini-Trump routine trashing reporters and exiling them from the Pentagon and then those same members of the media are like "come sit with me at Nerd Prom!"
The Daily Beast@thedailybeast

Bari Weiss, the editor-in-chief at the now Trump-friendly CBS News, has invited Pete Hegseth to attend the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, according to a report. trib.al/e7n18S5

The samosa is one of the most eaten street foods on the planet. This is a 500-year-old recipe for it, written in Persian in a manuscript sitting in the British Museum. The manuscript is called the Ni'matnama, the Book of Delights, written between 1501-1510 AD, for the Sultan of Mandu in central India. It passed through the hands of the Mughal Emperor Akbar, Tipu Sultan of Mysore, and the British East India Company before ending up in what is now the British Museum, where it has sat ever since. The samosa recipe inside calls for roasted aubergine (eggplant) pulp, dried ginger, and lamb cooked completely dry with onion and garlic, all fried in ghee. No potatoes, no chilli. Both arrived in India after this manuscript was written. This is the samosa before it became street food. It is richer, more perfumed, and more obviously royal than anything you will find at a street stall today. © Eats History #drthehistories

🚨 EXCLU w/ @CarolLeonnig: The DOJ is prepping to release a report that seeks to justify Trump’s pardons of two dozen anti-abortion protesters by arguing they were targeted by Biden's DOJ for their religious beliefs It’s the latest example of the DOJ acting in Trump's interest⤵️

UPDATE: Letters from Leo can now independently confirm that the meeting took place — and that the Vatican was so alarmed by the Pentagon’s tactics that Pope Leo XIV shelved plans to visit the United States later this year. Many in the Vatican saw the Pentagon’s reference to an Avignon papacy as a threat to use military force against the Holy See.
Christopher Hale@ChristopherHale

NEW: A stunning new report claims that the Pentagon summoned Pope Leo XIV’s top American diplomat and threatened him after the U.S.-born pontiff gave his January state-of-the-world address. Leo used the address to denounce a world ruled by “a diplomacy based on force” and “zeal for war.” thelettersfromleo.com/p/the-pentagon…

The ceasefire was a complete fiction. While the White House announced one, missiles were still flying across Israel, Iran, and Lebanon. Reality doesn’t match the headline. The White House was forced to backtrack today because the proposed “10-point deal” from Iran was a disaster that would let them enrich uranium, fund proxies like Hezbollah, maintain leverage over the Strait of Hormuz, and get sanctions relief. Even top allies like Mark Levin and Larry Kudlow are calling it a disaster. Let’s be honest about how we got here: there was never an imminent threat to the U.S. Now we’re stuck in it, negotiating from a weakened position.
