@smartereveryday Please also do some research yourself on hamster cages - hamsters need a lot more depth and also a lot more floor space! Lots of pet youtubers have good info on cages you can search for. Pet stores sell too-small cages bc they take up less shelf space and they can stock more

During recess I was shocked to discover that my son HAD ALREADY ACQUIRED THE HARDWARE. (A maze and everything.) Seems another family’s hamster recently passed and they gave him their stuff free of charge. I like the hamster couch.

When our children make a big request, Tara and I make them give a formal persuasive presentation. Other adults must be present and can ask questions about finances, planning etc. The tone is positive, but serious. (We want the kid to win) Today was HAMSTER PRESENTATION DAY. 🐹 🧵

@MateiPanzaru @Plutoburns @itsthatboi75 @EuphoriTori And if the minute the kid isn't obsessed with frozen they want to be a boy again, they go back to being treated as a boy no harm done. And if they still say they're a girl? Also fine! Sometimes it's a phase, but often it's not. The decision doesn't have to be final

@sadladyknight Resumes are the worst. If you need a second pair of eyes I can take a look, especially if you're going for corporate jobs

@GretchenAMcC -finding an ep for a show I'm not subscribed to -searching in transcipts -more info re: non-audio things mentioned -for fiction, the cast -want to buy something from a sponsor and looking for a code I heard (usually doesn't work but worth a shot! I wish shows had a sponsors page)

Nothing better while anxiously awaiting an important phone call than hearing @AllusionistShow mispronounce my home state repeatedly on @NightValeRadio 😂

@ryanestrada All orange vegetables kind of taste the same. Carrots, sweet potatoes, squash (of which pumpkin is a variety, and many canned pumpkins are other kinds of squash!) It's sweet because bananas are very sweet. I use them in my oatmeal all the time, no sugar needed!

@wtnvcecilos My own list is of recs is like 50 podcasts long but I can't do them all justice in a tweet. So here's just one: The Amelia Project @amelia_podcast is a comedic show about a secret agency that helps people fake their deaths and create a new life. It's energetic and a lot of fun!

@visual_linguist And lots and lots of people stick to recipes their whole lives, even if they have the recipe memorized or sometimes make substitutions. But that doesn't ever mean they're bad at baking or cooking

@visual_linguist This reminded me of baking/cooking! I can just "be creative" in those areas, but only because I've spent years building up a vocabulary of flavors/techniques. The first few times you try something, you find a recipe, you copy. It should be the same for all creative endeavors!

@sadladyknight Baking is almost certainly a safer option though. Not sure why my brain jumped to tomato sauce before brownies. Or even pie crust, which is something a lot of people put a little booze into

@sadladyknight Cook with it? Vodka sauce is a thing, and I don't see why you couldn't make a tomato sauce with raspberry vodka instead of plain vodka. Pair with just a shitton of caramelized onions and mushrooms and you've got yourself a weird but probably palatable pasta

@oldgodspod @cybergayth I grew up in the midwest and only ever heard "appa-lay-shun", always referring to The Appalachian Mountains. then in college I encountered "apple-latch-uh" and "apple-latch-un accent". I thought the pronounciation was context-dependent, like how rhetoric/rhetorical are different

@cybergayth Apple. Latch. Un. it's how we pronounce it in the Cumberland, it's how we pronounce it in the area that bears the stereotype and the stigma the "lay" only comes into play once your north of the Potomac usually.

Got my first political ad today. It had strong Mr Rogers vibes and now I'm dreaming of a world where public discourse around politics isn't 95% vitriol
