There is no credible evidence that Iranian authorities “killed at least 42,000 innocent, completely unarmed, protestors” in the riots and protests two months ago. HRANA, a widely cited Iran rights monitor, reported on January 27 that protests had led to 42,324 arrests, not 42,000 killings. The group, which is funded in part by the U.S. government, published on February 23 a ~1,350-page report, it’s most comprehensive account, which documented 7,007 deaths overall — broken down as 6,488 adult protesters, 236 minors, 207 security force members, and 76 non-participants. Iranian authorities have noted 3,117 deaths because of the actions of armed rioters who infiltrated the protests, and about 3,000 arrests.

In a matter of minutes, Israel killed more than 350 people across Lebanon on Wednesday, April 8. Here are some of their stories.

@Villgecrazylady The US hadn't earned any international authority. Before World War II, the US invaded different countries and participated in internal genocide. After World War II, the US invaded, bombed, and coerced even more countries. And collaborated in genocide (Indonesia 1965, for example)

The only thing you need to understand about the situation regarding Iran is that the United States threw 200 years of hard earned international authority and respect for common law in the trash when it decided to fully fund a genocide and then commit war crimes of its own within hours of starting this stupid war with Iran- namely bombing an elementary school and then sinking an unarmed ship and allowing the sailors aboard to drown. No body gives a fuck about the Barbary Wars and whatever precedent once existed, you absolute clowns.
Joel Pollak@joelpollak

The only thing you need to know about the situation regarding Iran is that the United States has never, since the Barbary Wars over 200 years ago, accepted that a foreign potentate would be able to control freedom of the seas and demand tribute. It's the reason we built a Navy.

I am genuinely struggling to understand this logic. If the rest of the world is willing to pay a small toll to Iran to keep oil flowing and stabilise markets, then why does the U.S. feel the need to block all shipping, especially when it is not dependent on that oil?

Y a interpretaciones imprecisas.

Interesting thread worth reading in full. Conclusion: "Israel cannot survive outside of this [US] imperial system. And it's spending its last decade (or so) committing massacres and collecting enemies."
İyad el-Baghdadi | إياد البغدادي@iyad_elbaghdadi

There's been lots of debates over the years about who controls whom - does the US control Israel, or does Israel control the US? Here's some thoughts on the US imperial system, its rise and its decline. To do this best I'll have to expand the frame to include the Gulf & its oil 🧵

@Kawaakibi Third fact: Until the fall of the Shah in 1979, the most reliable and promising ally for the US in the Gulf region was not Israel but... Iran. A large, populous country with a Western-aligned, ambitious yet brutal monarch. Who better to protect US interests in the oil-rich Gulf?

In the final years of South African Apartheid, the white government decided it must 1) overthrow the government of Angola 2) install a puppet regime in Namibia 3) attack Zimbabwe 4) attack Botswana 5) attack Zambia in order to survive. This did not work
