@movie_tvshows_ It comes down to philosophy. The main lead of early cgi was Denis Murren and his philosophy was "reality first" and the Joe Letteri was working under Murren on JP and later moved to Weta. Present day vfx artists are mostly 2 weeks course graduates, learning from 2 week grads.

@sciencegirl Real atomic corral experiment. But atoms create circular boundary in dense medium. Displacement void generates pressure waves that reflect & interfere, forming resonant rings. Pattern is classical fluid resonance + steering, no probability wave. Math matches Schrödinger.

@skdh Double-slit is usually "probability wave interfering with itself". Alt view: particle in a medium creates pressure waves that pass both slits, interfere, and steer the it into fringes, pure classical fluid dynamics. Math matches Schrödinger exactly, but no probability needed.

The double slit experiment is the probably most misunderstood experiment ever. I have no idea who created the myth that if you 'look' at one of the slits, then the particles (photons/electrons) stop behaving as waves. It's wrong! They of course STILL behave as waves! Because particles are also waves, always. Photons and electrons make a self-interference EVEN ON A SINGLE slit. Don't believe it? Below an actual measurement from a laser diffracting on a single/double slit from Wikipedia. What happens if you measure which slit the particle goes through is that you get no interference between BOTH slits. And no, you don't need a conscious observer for this. Believe it or not, there have actually been experiments where they had people literally look at a double slit to see if that makes any difference and the answer is no, it does not. The entire mystery of the double slit is in the path of the particle TO the double slit. Because it seems that the particle must "know" whether it WILL be measured at one of the slits before it even gets there. It must "know" whether to go through both or just pick one. Seems like the future influences the past? Not really, it just means you have a consistency condition on the time evolution.

@Dome_morf Maybe its a sign for pursue in that direction as well? As a combined style/idea, with darker tone you've already established? Pitch - a medieval fantasy as mature prince of persia, with noire tone. I really like this small demo in any case.

@WuotanStudios Yep. Same here, moved to Zorin about month ago, never looked back. Sure its not 100% as win experinece, but all tools I use work.

I've installed the latest version of Ubuntu OS on my 8y old intel nuc hades canyon (instead of windows). Godot -> works UE5 -> works Flax Engine -> works O3DE -> works nearly all games and software i have on steam -> works (including Substance Painter)

@GermaniaMagnaTW This is logical, considering that in the past good portion of modern day Germany people were Serbians/Sorbi (latinized as Wends). Many thoponimes even today bare Slavic names (eg Brlyn-Barlyin/Berlin -swamp town, as it was surrounded by swamps).

@WuotanStudios No I know. I was just directly referring to the fog. Its a heavy hand trend that everyone uses in the last 8-10 years. AAA studios wanted to emulate "the old masters" technique of sfumato, but not knowing why is it in there in the first place.

@vmblast Thanks for the feedback / info💪, 🫴but in this case it is blurry because of DOF Blur. When the game is running a auto focus function is running. In the editor 3d preview the blur is on its default value without auto focus -> blurry render

@ACarmackArtist This was actually very clever, to use clay models as base for sprites. Who came up with this idea for the Doom? Considering you were doing standard painted sprites for the Wolfenstein?

BIG NEWS!!! John Romeros game has survived cancellation! From a recent interview published today: -Team is working again (110 staff) -Project leads remain the same -Game had to undergo a redesign (visually?) but the concept remains the same -Singleplayer only, no MP or coop

@SandyofCthulhu Anyone lived under communism knows what special kind of evil it is.

The USSR starved 10-20 million people to death. Communist China starved 30-50 million to death. North Korea starved “only” 2.5 to 4 million to death but they were a smaller nation. These are just starvation deaths, and don’t count other murders. Tell me more about Communism “meeting 100% of your needs.”

@BoltLockArgent Severance strength was that it was set in some unknown past, which looked more like pre-civilizations era. Knight storyline was the only one that had sort of medieval setting, but even those pointers were sparse and vague.

What if Blade of Darkness had a spiritual successor? what if it was set in a period which only ever shows up in Paradox Map Games: 1520s Germany? Neither Cross Nor Crown comes out today! Here's a disorganized thread about some of my inspirations and some design notes.
