The @NepadAprmKenya Secretariat, in collaboration with the University of Nairobi @uonbi, Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Hub, @wee_hub has kick started a series of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) in Machakos County aimed at exploring opportunities for women’s economic empowerment at the sub-county level. The interviews, being conducted are designed to identify economic activities undertaken by women, the challenges and gaps, assess available entrepreneurial resources and opportunities. The findings from the Focus Group Discussions and Key Informant Interviews are expected to contribute to a comprehensive assessment that will guide targeted interventions and strengthen collaboration between national institutions, academia, county governments, and development partners. Additionally, the initiative seeks to advance inclusive growth by ensuring that women are better equipped and supported economically. The teams will cover Kangundo, Mwala, and Masinga sub counties.

In preparation for the upcoming needs assesment study, UoN WEE Hub in partnership with @NepadAprmKenya today began a two-day training for the researchers who will be collecting data in three subcounties within Machakos County; that is Mwala, Kangundo and Masinga subcounties
