THIS WEEK ON CURATE 🖼️ We highlight Muscarelle Museum of Art at William & Mary, which is currently holding an exhibit called "Abstract Expressionists: The Women," spotlighting nearly fifty paintings created by thirty-two important women artists between 1936 and 1977 ‼️ CATCH THIS EXHIBIT BEFORE IT CLOSES NEXT WEEK, 4/46 Drawn from the renowned Christian Levett Collection and the FAMM (Female Artists of the Mougins Museum), France, it underscores the critical contributions these artists made to the growth of Abstract Expressionism worldwide by studying the stylistic crosscurrents between women working not only in New York but also in California and Paris during the movement’s inception, peak years, and beyond. Tune in to WHRO TV15 THIS FRIDAY at 8:30pm for more local arts & culture including Swamp Dogg, a performance from Ann Gray, and more 📺 Can't watch live? Stream full episodes on our WHRO+ app!

✒️ CONGRATS TO KUNLE & VCIJ! Journalist Kunle Falayi with the Virginia Center for Investigative Journalism at WHRO (VCIJ) has won the 2025 Excellence in Journalism Award from the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association for his coverage of Flock Security systems and the growth of government surveillance. Kunle has doggedly followed the widespread police use and misuse of automatic license plate readers, those unremarkable security cameras perched along busy intersections that capture many of the daily commutes and grocery runs we make (Norfolk, for example, has almost 180 cameras, and more than 1,000 are spread across the state). Kunle discovered that traffic data in tiny Bridgewater, Va., was captured and searched nearly 7 million times by police across the country. His work was also cited in a recent State Crime Commission report. Kunle received the award recently at a ceremony held at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.

“We’re finding… a whole ecosystem against the American worker, where their wages… are garnished to pay off the hospital" — Cynthia Fisher tells @WHRO. Virginia hospitals filed 1.15 million lawsuits against patients over medical debt.
