We are all devastated with the news of Jon Passing and our thoughts are with Margy Aaron and Leah. I was lucky to spend so many years touring with Jon and learning from him. Creating some great shows and videos. Hilarious hours in the rehersal room and playing great tunes. But sitting in the kitchen with Margy and Caroline just having the craic in Lough Gur will never be forgotten. Thanks Jon.

Maidenhair Fern near Lisdoonvarna, growing on the wall of a gorge on shale/siltstone bedrock. Possibly the 1st record in the locality since the mid-1800's. Interesting that aforementioned record has it growing on 'the coal measures', an antiquated term for the shale geology

This is me practicing fitting quite a lot of science into a couple of mins bc I need to get back on IG & make reels about these things to rebuild my audience over there. I’d really appreciate your thoughts on this practice ‘reel’. Helpful? Clear? Concise? Any thoughts v welcome x

Many fish stocks are depleted or under pressure with devastating knock-on effects for economies & wildlife. However, Irish waters are home to many important spawning grounds 🐟🐠 Examples of how Marine Protected Areas can benefit fishing communities ↙️ fairseas.ie/2023/10/04/10-…

I’ve had a day in when my mental health’s been so bad due to recent difficult stuff that I haven’t managed well. On days like this one thing I can do that’s positive/constructive is post one of my photos in the hope that it gives you a small lift when you see it:

Crexcellent news this morning as 2023 survey data shows a 35% increase in critically endangered corncrakes in Ireland over the past five years. 218 breeding territories were recorded this year - that's up 10% on last year, and for the first time in a decade it exceeds 200 sites.
