Hunter Eichhorn leads the KFT event after a 62 today. He’s made six of seven cuts so far this year, with four top-10s. As a reminder of his amazing story. He grew up in the UP of Michigan in a town of 175 people. He only played golf 4-5 months a year thru High School. He didn’t play in any big junior events and had never traveled by plane prior to his career at Marquette. Despite all that he made All Big East four times and is the most decorated player in Marquette history. Pretty phenomenal.

After advancing from First Stage of Q-School last fall to earn #KornFerryTour status, Michigan native Hunter Eichhorn has notched four top-10 finishes already this season ... And he might not be slowing down.

Pretty cool story of a couple of teammates playing together at the @BahamasKFTour I’ve tweeted a bunch about Hunter Eichhorn, a kid who grew up in a tiny town in the UP of Michigan, put his clubs away 7 to 8 months at a time each year, had never been on airplane before getting to @MarquetteMGolf but became a standout player there. Tyler Leach grew up on a course his family owned. A little 6,000 yard course in Wisconsin that costs less than $30 to play. Yet he too made it to Marquette and became a standout player. Neither of them should have made to pro golf, but against those long odds they did. Eichhorn got thru all three stages to earn his full card for the first time, he’s been a Monday Q killer for the last few years. And Leach got thru four stages of Q-school to earn his card. (There is a pre-q stage for guys who have not made a cut on a pga sanctioned tour). And today after both playing the first 36 in 12-under they are paired together in the third round. And there bags tell the story of the grind. Leach and his faded Marquette bag, Eichhorn and his old faded Taylor made bag. Just awesome. Pretty damn cool.

This made my day. Coach of @MarquetteMGolf Steve Bailey surprised Hunter Eichhorn and Steve Leach who are the first two MU to hold full status and are paired together at the @BahamasKFTour He decided yesterday when he saw the pairing was a possibility, and grabbed a last minute flight and got in at noon today, drove to the course. “This might never happen again (them being paired together) I just didn’t want to miss it”. Man, I love this.

Hunter Eichhorn grew up in a tiny town in the UP of Michigan. The entire school system, from Kindergarten to High school had 90 students. The son of a school teacher and a pipefitter he didn’t play any junior events that he couldn’t drive too. Had never been on a plane until he went to college. In fact most of his high school career he didn’t touch a club for 7 months a year, playing other sports and because of the snow on the ground. When he did play he did it on a 9 hole course that had a 396 yard “par-five” on it. He wasn’t supposed to make it. Despite that he went to Marquette University and became one of the best players in program history. Yesterday he Monday Q’d for the sixth time in the last couple of years.

@theNelemunsun @3_FromTheTee That’s a pretty solid assessment. I don’t know if I’ve ever been happier on a golf course than when we played SFGC.

@willjoiner @3_FromTheTee Atlanta Athletic was incredible don’t get me wrong. But there is just something completely unique/historic about SFGC that is hard to match. AAC was a fantastic tournament site but the day to day play at SFGC takes the cake
