Earlier this week, Morgen Bailey (a keen supporter of indie authors) spent some time chatting about influences, the writing process, editing and what's coming up - and that conversation is available here if you're interested... youtube.com/watch?v=AT2D47…

I wonder if one was a timer...they only get so long to answer before the dreaded:'C'mon...'

@ThisCoast (3) There has already been a massive impact on some areas due to the second home owners double tax with visitor numbers down, less people spending money locally, investors pulling out or putting developments on hold, properties on the market not selling (continued)

Even more local councils are now set to to extort funds from second home owners. There is no justification for this tax. Second home owners are less of a burden on local services & logically should receive a discount on their council tax bill, as used to be the case.

I'm not one for New Year's resolutions or any of that, but if I may be bold enough to make a suggestion, read a book, preferably a novel, for just five minutes every night before bed. We know via scientific brainwave studies that it will improve your mental health and give you more empathy. My wish for you all: May 2026 be your best year yet. 💙

virginia woolf's 1931 new years resolutions: “to have none. not to be tied. to be free & kindly with myself. sometimes to read, sometimes not to read. to go out, yes—but stay at home in spite of being asked. as for clothes, i think to buy good ones”

@BBCr4today It's all part of the dumbing down of the programme. Please bring back the strong news agenda and tight presentation. Is this really what R4 listeners want? I suspect not as this is not what's expected of the station that used to say "everyone needs a place to think".

@lewis_goodall The abject deference to flummery is risible but politicians are loathe to unveil their lifestyle as future gongs may disappear.

@BBCr4today As if it will be accurate - you've given each families names they will get VIP treatment at every appointment they attend, this is banality nothing to do with being a so called flagship news programme.
