@hussein_roby @iamyesyouareno I wonder why "blacknews.com" is defending this nog and conveniently doesn't even mention the actual victim of the crime, shitskin. And it's not self-defense when the other guy has a gun on his person. They have to actually have the gun out. But he chimped anyway.

“Defending himself” Oh you mean shooting a 9 year old girl in the face? Because that’s what he did.

@cal_gif *most common name on Earth outside of the civilized countries "Muhammad" (parents naming you after a pederast lol) being a common name in a civilized country is a sign of its decline, not its progress.

@MoonPaladin Considering Veilguard's development was notoriously a mixed bag of DA people who weren't taken seriously, and ME people who were brought in to "fix" the issue, I don't think anyone who doesn't work at Bioware can really point the finger at anyone specifically.

Mass Effect fans that talk shit about "Veilguard writers" are idiots showing their whole ass. Most of those writers worked on ME. The person who wrote Mordin also wrote Taash. Literally learn anything about your fanboy franchise.

@joeroganhq Disney shrunk him on the Chinese poster, not the American one... And a lot of fans liked his character in the first movie, and stood up for the actor. Both got shafted in the second movie, and that was not the fans' fault. So I don't know what he's actually talking about.

@EnBainbow @LeaveHeardAlone @fandompulse I hope your argument is not "The Martian has Chinese people in it", because that's the most common brain-dead argument I see. Yes, the universe where The Martian takes place, also has Chinese people in it.

Project Hail Mary writer Andy Weir on social commentary in books: "I dislike social commentary. Like… I really hate it. When I’m reading a book, I just want to be entertained, not preached at by the author. Plus, it ruins the wonder of the story if I know the author has a political or social axe to grind. I no longer speculate about all possible outcomes of the story because I know for a fact that the universe of that book will conspire to ensure that the author’s political agenda is validated. I hate that." "I put no politics or social commentary into my stories at all. Anyone who thinks they see something like that is reading it in on their own. I have no point to make, and I’m not trying to affect the reader’s opinion on anything. My sole job is to entertain, and I stick to that." "To that end, I also don’t talk about my personal political opinions publicly. I don’t want readers to even know, honestly. I don’t want that in the back of their minds as they read my stuff." Is this why he has the #1 sci-fi movie in decades?

@argcomics_ @Alison_is_lost "so·ci·e·ty 1. the aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community." Completely unrelated. Multiple people being together is not required for humans to have endurance or willpower. Both The Martian & Project Hail Mary largely have a solo protagonist.

@jenny2x4 Completely unrelated to your "the US government immediately agreed to spend all their $$ to save the life of one guy". Mark's teammates were the ones who immediately agreed. NASA did not, and even hid it from them as long as they could. They were coerced to help.

@wrrlbow You’re just lying here. I finished reading it several months ago. They defied one order that was given specifically to protect their lives, not to save money or reputation. At every turn the lives of individuals were all that mattered to everyone. Not one bad guy in it

@gailalfaratx @fandompulse And which is why liberals in these comments think art with no political or social commentary is therefore about nothing. They can't recognize anything of value in media unless it has some take that they can gripe about or clap like seals at.

andy weir claims social commentary in fiction is bad, but really he's just not smart enough or a good enough writer to do it! ursula le guin wrote incredibly beautiful and incredibly political science fiction books that were much better for their politics, whether or not you actually agreed with her. most truly great art *has* a message, even if you dont necessarily need to listen to it to appreciate it. now it's certainly true there's swaths of mediocre bullshit that's far worse for trying to push some transparent agenda into a sitcom or YA fantasy novel . and in some sense andy weir is wise to recognize his limitations and not attempt this, wiser than say brandon sanderson . but these absolutist statements are ridiculous and just reveal his lack of taste. skill issue.
