ESKOM CLEARS R38BN DEBT
Eskom has settled its R38bn ES26 bond, closing a long chapter in its funding history and signalling real progress in its financial recovery.
The bond, first issued in 2007, expanded over time as investors continued to back the utility.
Its redemption now reflects stronger finances and the impact of state-backed debt relief.
Crucially, paying down this obligation should help lower Eskom’s borrowing costs going forward.
While the milestone points to improving stability, the utility still faces pressure to strengthen operations and revenue as South Africa’s energy sector continues to evolve.

Yesterday, 6 April 2026, from where the R34 joins the N11 to Volkrust, we saw just how reckless drivers are on the road and how collisions occur. People are simply reckless. However, thanks to @KZNTransport presence of the officers on the road, the situation was contained all the way into Volkrust. This was a great inconvenience and caused major delays because traffic slowed down, however, this was absolutely necessary to contain the situation.
Appreciation goes to all the officers who were on the ground and monitoring traffic. Ningakhathali!

The KZN Traffic police have figured out one thing: keep the drivers on the lane, slow down the traffic, and reduce the collisions. I'm highly inconvenienced by this move, but based on what I witnessed from unruly and reckless drivers on the road today. WE DESERVE the inconvenience.
