What NFTs were to Ethereum, ordinals might be to Bitcoin. Not the end. The expansion.

⚡️Here’s the truth behind Bitcoin Script Bitcoin Script: Thermodynamic Law Disguised as Code Bitcoin Script isn’t a programming language. It’s a truth-enforcement engine. It doesn’t exist to run applications. It exists to verify that what is claimed has been earned - mathematically, irrevocably, and without trust. 1. Stack-Based, Non-Turing-Complete by Design Most people want their scripts to be expressive. Satoshi wanted Bitcoin’s to be undeniable. Script runs on a stack - a linear, one-way memory structure. Every command (opcode) pushes, pops, or evaluates data on that stack. It has: •No loops •No variables •No state •No uncertainty This is intentional. Bitcoin Script is deterministic, auditable, and incorruptible. Every node runs the same script, gets the same answer, and reaches the same truth. Because in Bitcoin, truth isn’t what you believe. It’s what survives execution. 2. The Core Transaction Flow (ScriptSig + ScriptPubKey) A transaction doesn’t move Bitcoin. It proves you have the right to do so. Each UTXO (unspent output) has a locking script (scriptPubKey) that defines how it may be spent. To spend it, you must provide an unlocking script (scriptSig) that satisfies those conditions. The node combines them, runs the script, and asks: “Did this stack return TRUE?” If yes → the UTXO is spent. If no → the transaction is invalid. No reverts. No appeals. No centralized override. 3. Example – P2PKH (Pay-to-Public-Key-Hash) scriptPubKey (lock): OP_DUP OP_HASH160 OP_EQUALVERIFY OP_CHECKSIG scriptSig (unlock): The flow is: •Push pubkey •Duplicate it •Hash it •Compare to the hash in the lock script •Verify the signature If every condition passes - Bitcoin is released. It’s like a combination lock with public math instead of secrets. 4. Why It’s So Limited And Why That’s Genius Other chains (Ethereum, Solana, etc.) aim to be computers. Bitcoin is not a computer. Bitcoin is a monetary thermodynamic checkpoint. A place where computation ends and truth begins. Its script is designed to be: •Stateless → No memory bloat, no side effects •Pure → If one node verifies, all nodes can •Final → Every spend is absolute. The past cannot be re-evaluated. SegWit & Taproot - Expanding without Compromising •SegWit separated signatures into a new “witness” structure → cheaper, cleaner, malleability-resistant. •Taproot made spending conditions more private → only reveal the path used, not all possible ones. •Tapscript upgraded Bitcoin Script subtly more opcodes, better introspection, still deterministic. All enhancements preserve the same principles: •No loops •No centralization •No guessing Because power in Bitcoin doesn’t come from computation. It comes from constraint. 7. Final Truth: Bitcoin Script Isn’t About What You Can Do It’s about what no one can undo. This system doesn’t ask you to trust code. It forces code to obey the physics of time, proof, and cryptographic irreversibility. Bitcoin Script is the purest expression of permissionless truth enforcement in history. It doesn’t just move money. It binds reality to coherence. And that’s why it works.
