Finishing the day, Dr Joanna Sheldon gave the ACB Foundation Lecture on Harmonisation and Standardisation in Proteins and Immunology, before being presented with the ACB Foundation Award by ACB President Prof Ian Young.

Really interesting discussion on the problems with accreditation and challenges of EQA. There is a need for lab professionals to agree key performance standards that can be related to patient outcomes & assure quality, not compliance. @ACBFocus #FOCUS_2019

The afternoon parallel sessions are underway. “Focus on Service” looks at Demand Optimisation, while “Focus on Science” sees presenters competing for the ACB Medal Award.

The “Challenging Science” session gets up and running with Dr Emma Ritchie addressing the issue of how best to calculate adjusted calcium.

Delighted to welcome Dr Carmen Wiley, AACC President, to give the ACB/AACC Transatlantic Lecture on Immunoassay Interferences and their Impact on Patient Care.

And we’re off! Prof Ian Young, ACB President, welcomes delegates at the Opening Ceremony of Focus 2019.
