This race should be neck & neck in the polls, and yet, Cooper leads every poll that's been done, with some closer than others. Cooper is also dominating Whatley in fundraising, too. Whatley has no major campaign infrastructure in place despite being the literal former chairman of the RNC, and he has no media apparatus going, either. In a state as close and competitive as North Carolina, anyone, regardless of party running for The Senate, has to campaign aggressively from the moment they get nominated till Election Day. Whatley hasn't gotten that memo. I do believe he can win. Don't mistake my concerns for a false belief that he's toast. But right now, the truth is, he is not running to win. Rather, he seems to be running just to run because he was strong armed into it. I low-key wish he had stayed on as chairman. Gruters has been a disappointment. Whatley is better in an executive role. Which is effectively what the RNC chairman is.

DOGE failed not because Elon or Trump didn't care enough about streamlining the Federal government and cutting fraud and waste. It failed because of two things: 1) The primary spending mechanisms within the Federal government are all set to autopilot, and there simply aren't enough votes in Congress to change that. 2) The international monetary arrangement requires a constant outflow of Dollars from the United States to the rest of the world in order to facilitate global trade. Perpetual and growing deficits are one component in facilitating Dollar liquidity. America's trade deficit is another. Lyn Alden is absolutely right. Nothing stops this train aside from its own logical conclusions, I suppose. And we just haven't reached that end stage yet. But we will.
