Dominique Dawes made history in 1996 in Atlanta as the first Black woman to win an individual Olympic medal in gymnastics. Thirty years later, she’s back in the same metro area making history yet again. This time, opening a 20,000-square-foot academy in Alpharetta designed to train and protect the next generation. From the city where she cemented her legacy to the community she’s now pouring into, this is bigger than a gym. It’s about access.
