What is done in love is done well. ~vanGogh If he only understood the full impact that he has had on the world. Has someone helped you? Make sure you tell them, will you?

We would be delighted to have you! We meet on Thursdays at 11:35 CST here in Des Moines, Iowa. I don't know where you are located, but as long as the time slot works for you, it doesn't matter! Let me know when you would like to attend and I'll make sure I DM you the information!

@ANNETTAspeaks Do you mean deciding ahead of time what you'll include in your speech (and what you'll leave out)? Or making sure your speech doesn't go over time?

What do you find to be the most difficult aspect of DELIVERING a speech? Volume? Eye contact? Filler words? Posture? Something else?

@ANNETTAspeaks It's VITAL. To one on one relationships. To group dynamics. To world peace. I did not know how poor a listener I was until I joined Toastmasters. I'm so glad for the opportunity to practice it. I totally agree Annetta!

Been enjoying this lately. Hope you will too. “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 The MSG

Guess what? The most important skill i have ever learned from @Toastmasters is not public speaking. It's ACTIVE LISTENING. And it's a game changer. Learn with me @Toastmasters19. We are a hybrid club and you can join via ZOOM.

Sesame Street was originally created for Black Americans By Black Americans… Long before it became “universal,” it was a radical project to teach, empower, and represent a community too long ignored. History often forgets who it was really for.

As an audience member, what are some things that speakers do that really bother you? I'll start with three - 1. Lack of volume. All that rock music I listened to as a teenager has taken its toll on my ears. When a speaker sees half the audience leaning forward in their seats, they should take the hint! 2. Lack of proper citation. I HATE hearing "According to (fill in the blank) dot com..." 3. Too many filler words/phrases. I don't mind an occasional "um" or "you know," but when words like "actually" or "so" are used in every other sentence, I just grit my teeth.

Your PowerPoint must be seen clearly by the back row of your audience. Run your slideshow full screen on your computer & watch it from 8 to 10 feet away. If your text, pictures, & graphics can’t be seen easily, revisit your design. #PublicSpeaking #PainlessPublicSpeaking
