This research reveals the complexity of social media use and introduces a novel four-factor structure. The Social Media Use Scale offers a comprehensive tool for measurement that we hope will be utilized by researchers and clinicians alike!

Consumption-based SMU relates to activities centered around consuming social media content (e.g., watching videos, aimlessly scrolling). In both studies, it was associated broad social media use and enjoyment.
