@armyemdoc I’m always glad to see a study looking at prehospital interventions and applaud the authors on looking at this topic. However, way underpowered to draw any conclusions about the outcomes of interest. Looking forward to further research!

Are prehospital pelvic binders useful?
This retrospective cohort of 66 unstable pelvic fractures published last month says no. They found:
-No mortality benefit
-No difference in blood product use
-No difference in arrival HGB
-No improvement in arrival shock metrics
Should pelvic binders be sent to the same graveyard as MAST trousers?

@ianmpaquette @hannahhayes28 @UCincySurg Yes sir! Very appreciated and has allowed me to do complex colorectal surgery in my practice with confidence and skill.

Just finished my 50th case with @hannahhayes28. @UCincySurg residents do nearly a full colorectal fellowship before graduation. #colorectalcancer

More great work by one of @DenverHealthMed’s own, @BJJDOC, on the role of prehospital EtCO2 in predicting outcomes in trauma patients 👏

@ClayBurlew @traumaicurounds @DissanaikeMD @docmartin22 @MartinSchreib10 @pferrada1 @traumadoctors @JJcolemanMD @KBarryMD @jpmeizoso Sounds like a good plan to me. I’m a no on the TXA unless TEG suggests fibrinolysis

@traumaicurounds @DissanaikeMD @docmartin22 @MartinSchreib10 @pferrada1 @traumadoctors Ooooo @traumaicurounds! Great case full of controversy...
MTP.
Place 7fr arterial sheath in case you need REBOA (if pt doesn’t respond to blood).
To OR for pelvic ex fix and pelvic packing if > 2u.
Intubate in OR just prior.
Right @JJcolemanMD @BJJDOC @KBarryMD @jpmeizoso ??

Binder placed, whole blood & MTP✅
Q1: Intubate now or later?
Q2: Place REBOA or no REBOA?
Q3: TXA or no TXA? Dose??

@elliotthaut Compliance is surprisingly normal given level of hypoxia. Early proning has been very helpful in Denver so far. Unfortunately we are still likely only in the early stages of the pandemic here.
English

I don't have any personal experience treating #COVID19 ventilated patients yet. But, from what i have heard, proning works wonders, much better than for typical ARDS patients.

In response to the widespread #COVID19 quarantines, @RASACS is developing a national, SCORE-driven weekly video curriculum of lectures to continue resident education/didactics. If you are a surgical educator and interested in giving a lecture, please DM me or @CassieSonntag
