People saying this is inaccurate as if Charlie didn’t 1. Stop Her dad from killing Adam, whose been genociding her people 2. Invite the friends and coworkers of a rapist to her hotel knowing full well the victim of said rapist lives there. She would 100% do this.

@NBinted That's one thing that always bothers me about Isekai is how chill they are with slaves. Most of the time, they basically just frame it as "well they were already slaves, so the MC is actually helping them", but then they never actually free them...

between this and the holdo maneuver i feel like i need to sit down and talk to movie writers about military tactics. if you're going to introduce a "clever" maneuver to win a battle, you need to have a reason it wouldn't ordinarily work, or at least a reason nobody's thought of it before. and the answer probably shouldn't be "it's super dangerous" because war is already very dangerous. if a tactic works, people are going to use it. plus in any sort of modern or sci-fi setting, anything a ship with a crew can do can probably be copied by a specialized design that pilots itself or is piloted remotely. actual "clever" maneuvers on the battlefield are more likely to be opportunistic. a commander notices an unusual situation and improvises an unexpected solution. or you make use of local knowledge the other side doesn't have. or you read the terrain better and end up in a favorable battlefield position. or you notice a mistake the enemy made and exploit it ruthlessly. but in order for the maneuver to be cool, you need to explain why it isn't normally possible. otherwise you just make one side look sort of dumb for not seeing it coming.

This moment when a Hammerhead Corvette rams into one Star Destroyer, making it crash into another, and destroying the Shield Gate above Scarif at the end of Rogue One. Never even considered that this was a possibility, so it’s safe to say my mind was blown when I first watched this happen on opening night back in 2016.

@BetaNumber2 @demonsthenes13 @EPM106 standing armies only really worked in late or post-feudal societies, where power was centralized enough that local lords couldn’t maintain their own armies as effectively. even then, those armies frequently caused problems and often contributed to civil wars breaking out

@BetaNumber2 @EPM106 What happens when the crown is paying the spies against it? Like Varys for example? Or they break their oath like Joffrey himself did? These are good questions to consider 🤷‍♀️

@demonsthenes13 @EPM106 This issue is historically solved with Money. Now granted at the time the crown was broke af. But that wasnt her reason, the one she gave was bad. Historically standing armies do kinda just work when you can manage to actually solve the logistics and money issues of them.

@EPM106 I mean she did bring up a good point...civil war breaks out and those pledged to the army still have homelands they're loyal to, do they become turncoats or stay true to their pledge they were forced to take?

@Marah_Poggers @iDavey He was. Its just the moment he did Saitama was already above it, it took him a few seconds to copy during which Saitama had already grown. Plus he had to you know...fight back

I think the disconnect with understanding who Saitama is comes from y'all not reading manga. Let me explain. Garou became a literal cosmic god. He could copy the strength of anyone he fought. Let me repeat that. HE CAN COPY THE FULL STRENGTH OF ANYONE HE FOUGHT. Even with Garou constantly copying Saitama's power... Garou, a cosmic god, could not KEEP UP WITH THE SPEED OF SAITAMA'S GROWTH IN THE MIDDLE OF A BATTLE. Saitama was in the void of space on top of that. He also destroyed all of Jupiters atmosphere WITH A SNEEZE. So I say again...Saitama is not loosing to any basic anime character.

The worst part of this is that Fujimoto isn't some hack. You don't write Part 1, Goodbye Eri, Look Back, or Fire Punch if you're a bad author. Any claims that he is are in bad faith. So the manga turning out like this even in spite of that is what makes it so damn disappointing.

Yall can run all the laps all yall want Fujimoto still had one of the greatest peaks the industry has ever seen. Unmatched narrative efficiency, all time sales, critically acclaimed, world class cast. T15 peak in manga history and he’s still a “what if” story.
