If anyone is changing their helmet design from 2024, let us know so we can update things! @CHSAA

Sticking with our rant about tackle stats (which we are no longer recognizing). @BishopGormanFB is the #2 team in the country and has recorded only 83 total tackles in two games. Colorado teams are well over 100 and 200 tackles in two games…

@BrockBa1311 @MaxPreps Yeah, I knew that it was an issue because of the subjectivity of tackle stats, but when I saw a team with 212 tackles after two games it got under my skin. MaxPreps even gives their stat definitions at the bottom of the page. 1 possible solo or 2 assists on a play. Rarely 3.

How do 2-0 football teams have 200+ tackles in @MaxPreps? D1 teams that are 0-2 don’t have that many tackles and they spend an additional 12 minutes on the field each game. Stop padding stats.

@PrepZoneCO I would think offensive stats can be more verified than defensive. A yard here & there or a pancake block, but ultimately offensive stats are objective. I’m seeing teams have more solo tackles than defensive snaps.

Here's another real-world example: Team A records 41 Solo and 57 Assists for 98 total tackles in a game. Their opponent Team B produced 9 completions, rushed 20 times and had 1 kickoff return. Really considering leaving tackle stats out of the mix.

Putting these teams on the map! Wanted to switch things up and put a location with the logo as best we could. The metro area gets pretty sloppy, but here are the 204 CHSAA schools playing 5A through 1A football in 2024. Tag your team in the comments!

@RockyShackleto1 Realistically this is a self-regulating stat, but coaches should be looking at the possible number of offensive and special teams plays and keep their solo tackle totals below that mark, and assists should be pretty far below as well.

@Box_State_Stats I don’t think so. I think I could have been clearer, which is my bad. Only the first two players to the ball get credit for an assist if they do it together. Anyone afterwards does not get credit for the tackle. Under that logic, it’s highly unlikely

Coaches: How are you calculating your tackle stats? It seems to be the only statistic inside MaxPreps that is 1000% subjective and difficult to verify.

@LorenColl328080 @RockyShackleto1 Totally agree with that. At the end of the tally, there shouldn’t be more solo tackles than offensive plays with a tackle possible (completions + rushes). A lot of teams have solo tackles at 150% of the eligible offensive plays, then have additional assists.
