Former #Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis talks about his transition from Dallas to Jacksonville. Lewis praised Dak Prescott and the support staff, but says Dallas had other ideas about replacing him with other guys and concerns about his age. Exactly. Could have loved Downs enough of course to play at safety instead of CB even with Lewis in the fold. The Cowboys weren’t a better team without Lewis last year and it’s a hard lesson you have to learn sometimes. Happy it only took 1 year to pivot—some teams have too much pride to admit they’re wrong 😅

Not saying they wouldn’t have drafted Caleb Downs, but the chain of events is interesting: Cowboys were surprised they lost Jourdan Lewis in free agency ➡️ they then go a whole season where they felt his loss significantly ➡️ they then prioritize nickel because of it.
