Checking a pre-established top 10 and informing your set off of that is the opposite of DJing in every sense

If it’s a headline show, I’ll check Beatport’s top 10. For direct support slots I’ll stay away from it entirely. There’s enough cool songs in the world, let the headliner have fun with whatever is popping on the top 10.

@mikeybarreneche @TerryTwoBags Definitely not the end of the world. just think it’s great for DJs to showcase a lot of tracks the crowd hasn’t heard and introduce them to new stuff they might love rather than the more popular tracks they are hearing consistently.

Met a guy at an Apple Store in the UK a few months ago. Just normal convo. He didn’t know I do music. He tells me he used to be an artist. Dropped like 4 albums. “Used to?” He just smiled… said he stopped. Not because he didn’t try. He did. Released, pushed, stayed consistent.
