I was transfixed by Jamey's incredibly moving, compassionate, thoroughly researched paper that I put my phone down and listened to every single word. I'm sorry there aren't more tweets, but this was too important, too compelling to miss. Jamey Jesperson is a wonderful scholar.

@JameyJesperson also explores the experiences of indigenous transfeminine people living in Alta California.

@JameyJesperson begins her incredible paper on 'Trans Misogyny in the Colonial Archive' with a land acknowledgement. She then introduces us to the theoretical concept of 're-membering', which is central to her work.

'The gloominess of the flat is secondary to the freedom it provides the women'.

Queer space: Lucretia and Kitty spend the majority of 'On the Threshold' encased in the safe space of their 'spinster flat'. This is an important locale throughout the novel - it grants Lucretia and Kitty independence.

And we're off! @nkarlz begins her wonderful paper on 'Isabella Ford & the Dream of Lesbian Utopia' by discussing Ford's biography and socio-economic background.

Tasha moves on to discuss the idea of 'romantic friendship', which listeners may be familiar with from their reading of Henry James's 'The Bostonians'. Key theoretical texts on this concept include Marcus and Faderman.
