@KillianMWright The first step is to get out of the cellar... win 20 games consistently, get to the tourney, and then recruit. Magically back to back 20 win seasons eith tourney appearances and the top recruiting class. Its going the right way.

@KillianMWright Its fan overreaction and quite frankly stupidity or disassociation from reality. Miz's national appeal was destroyed by a decade where they averaged under .500 2 tourneys and 0 wins. It was though of like Neb in the 80s. It wasn't the situation of Iowa St. It was way worse.

There should be zero discussions about firing Dennis Gates. I can’t really fathom that that’s a conversation right now.

@chrisstlmo @mizzodcast If growth doesnt continue then you move on, but this wasn't Iowa St Gates walked into. They had one bad year, AAU, high school etc coaches weren't pushing kids away from that program

@CDraf2 @mizzodcast Yes in 1980. That’s no longer the case. It doesn’t matter today that Wilt Chamberlain went to Kansas in 1956.

Another shitty year of shitty Mizzou basketball with a shitty coach doing a shitty job of preparing his shitty team leading to a shitty game with a shitty outcome.

@chrisstlmo @mizzodcast That's just not gonna be the case 4 or 3 or even 2 years ago. We finally have regained some national respect, back to back 20 win seasons and tourney appearances and have attracted an elite recruiting class. From a team that averaged 15 wins for a decade, its first step.

@chrisstlmo @mizzodcast Who said a thing about Chamberlain or 1956. Your'e asserting that when given an option between schools like Kentucky, UCLA, Michigan State, who routinely win, send players to the NBA, and pay the same through NIL that players would choose the dumpster fire that was Miz

@ChiMizery @mizzodcast Understand the difference. Becoming a perennial 20 win team is the first step. 2 years in a row reached that mark. Now an incoming number 1 recruiting class. The programs stink is dissapating from a national perspective and they now have a chance to take that next step.

@ChiMizery @mizzodcast Try again. Iowa State averaged 21 wins a season for the 10 years before their one bad season. AAU coaches and high school coaches, and mid major coaches wouldn't have been steering kids away from their program the way people were running from the dumpster fire at Miz

@MarkJKim_ Its not about losing the talent that would suck. Its about confirming the national belief that Mizzou is done as a baskeball destination. The decade that proceeded Gates destroyed everything the program had built in its history. Gates has a great recruiting class despite that.

On one hand, Dennis Gates has Mizzou's two best recruits since the Porter brothers on the way. On the other hand, he hasn't won in March and his teams have looked outmatched each time. Do you give him one more year with his guys or cut him loose and risk losing the talent?

@TigerWill06 And yearly reminder that many of my gray hair having brethren dont realize that that exact drought is why no one outside of Mizzouland sees Mizzou as a reasonable place to send your basketball player. Making the number 1 recruiting class coming in all that much more impressive.

Yearly reminder that no Mizzou undergrad student has the memory of Mizzou basketball making the sweet 16, and they only have memory of 2 (you can argue 1) tourney wins

@TigerWill06 What you're not understanding is its not about the coach after the decade we had before. Its about the program. Gates has the unenviable task of convincing the basketball world that Miz can still be what it once was rather than the basketball wasteland it has become nationally.

@mizsportsfan112 More damage than good because suddenly the fan base blocked the memories of the nightmare decade out amd thought were were back because of 1 year. Year two was a more accurate depiction of what the mizzou program had become and a more accurate point from which to guage success.

@mizsportsfan112 I think that your have to understand what he is saying. He understands that he took over a team that was atrocious for a decade. He caught lightening in a bottle in year one and somehow got a hodge podge of division 2, and small conference transfers to win. This may have done

Can’t wait for Dennis to say Miami is greatest team ever and this year was a success because they made it to the tourney. A coach that says just making it to tourney is a success before playing the game is not serious

@chrisstlmo @mizzodcast It doesnt matter what NBA teams have. Mizzou is also on national TV regularly, but when a kid watches the draft and see Kentucky 3 times UCLA twice and Miz none then gets offered a mil to play at KY a mil at UCLA and a mil at MIZ they all choose anything but MIZ

@chrisstlmo @mizzodcast True many players dont go to college But if you're not that guy you want to go where you could still live out your dream. Mizzou is flat out not that place right now. Where on earth have you been? If Mizzou and UNC both offer a kid a mil to play 100% choose UNC.

@CDraf2 @mizzodcast Oh my goodness. When is the last time you watched the NBA? First of all, many of the stars, Luka, Joker, Sengun etc. never even sniffed a college campus. And others like AntMan went to hoops power houses like Georgia. My goodness dude, where on earth have you been?

@MIZ_SZN Crews was the best players willing to take 500K because of the amounts of stink that cover this program from the decade of disaster before Gates. Theyre not scapegoating. They recognize that the program was an objective disaster when he got here, nothing was good.

@MIZ_SZN @RetroGamerDad17 He got the best players that would even look at Mizzou after the decade of embarrassment that preceded Gates soured the program. Each year our athleticism and size and talent are getting closer. If you bail now, you're back to sub .500 in 70% of the seasons immediately

@MIZ_SZN So we can go back to the hole we were in for a decade before Gates. I'll take basketball where we could win over where we routinely lost to the Little Sisters of the Poor. We finally have a chance to have the athleticism to compete coming in and you wanna go back to irrelevence

@MIZ_SZN How in the hell can you say results aren't improving. Were you under a rock for the decade before Gates got here. If you were, it was atrocious, .467 winning %, 2 tourneys, 0 wins. We were closer to a bad mid major program than a respectable major conference program.

An interesting spot for the NIL era of sports How long before the fans get restless with the constant, “We need more money to compete” emails The money is coming in and results aren’t improving Do fans stop donating their hard earned money for poor results? #NIL #MIZ #SEC
