Man I can’t believe the Sycamore/Club West situation is still making headlines. In the age of media and social sentiment tracking, it feels like a reopening is a bad idea. I do feel for the family, must be hell trying to recover from what happened but… woof.

Club West/Sycamore would have earned a lot more respect had it just quietly opened or donated proceeds to a youth services npc. Instead it did the “influencer” car wash w/ the #clt “look at me” usuals & feels icky, esp. the miraculous timing of the “healing” ending/reopening.

@alexsands_ As I understand it there are two track crossovers standard at stations. Also I believe there will be a operator relief station as part of this cost. There is also a good amount of earthwork to get this station connected to Atherton.

I got an update from CATS on the South End Station budget. Approx. $34M, it includes: - Construction - Design - Construction manager - Property rights - Landscaping, utilities, ticket machines, permits ~$10M just for the track crossover axios.com/local/charlott…

@DylanSinnott @alexsands_ @axioscharlotte there are also special tracks that have to be laid by specialists. I do agree the pricetag seems a bit crazy, but theres a lot of factors that are at play.

@DylanSinnott @alexsands_ @axioscharlotte Its a bit more complicated than pouring a pool, pools dont hold 110,000 pound vehicle (empty weight) and don't have to handle the vibrations of said vehicle pulling into a station.
