After 30 years of being an Atheist, tonight I will be baptized, confirmed, and reconciled to God.
I cannot stop thinking about it.

Loving in this way is what might be considered the core of how we are to love God.
In the Great Commandment, Jesus said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 33:37-39)
By saying that the second is like the first, I believe Jesus was telling us that the way we demonstrate to God how much we love Him is by loving others as He loved us, which was by Jesus laying down His life for us.
And so, we show our love for God by becoming those living sacrifices, as pointed out in Romans 12:1, saying, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
