This new Whelen WPS-2910 tornado siren near my house was either struck by lightning or caught on fire due to a power surge, because it was completely destroyed this week.

70 years on this day: At ~5:42 PM, a tornado would form west of Ganges over Lake Michigan and move towards Saugatuck. Reaching shore, it would damage cottages at Camp Gray and a beach house on Oval Beach. To the northeast on Oxbow Lagoon, a well-built lighthouse would be-

70 years ago on this day: At 5:22 PM, a waterspout would be spotted off the coast of New Buffalo. It would move northeast and dissipate between Bridgman and Stevensville. A 12-year old boy would take a photo of the waterspout as it passed Bridgman. Waterspout lasted for an hour.

-along a 55 miles later long path. April 3, 1956 was apart of a two day outbreak. In all April 3 had 27 tornadoes, 4 being in Michigan. The total outbreak from Oklahoma and Kansas to Ohio and Michigan had 46 tornadoes.

The final tornado in west Michigan touched down just outside of Bangor. It spent most of its life in rural farm areas occasionally passing just outside or scraping the outskirts of a town. The worst damage it did was on Eagle Lake. After the final tornado lifted, 12 were injured-
