On 4/17/2025 a jury found Mr. Von Simmonds guilty of Second-Degree Murder for the death of Abubukar Sharrif in BTV on 12/4/2022. Today, the State asked the Court to sentence him to 30 years to life. The Court instead sentenced him to 20 years to life, split to serve 17.5 years.

Today, a Chittenden County jury returned Guilty verdicts on two counts of Second Degree Murder against Denroy Dasent for the October 2022 murders of Brian Billings II and Sheikhnoor Osman. We are incredibly grateful for the juries thoughtful deliberation in this difficult case.
