Big thank you to @josefchirhart Centralia CC’s Boys Basketball coach/Athletic Director for coming out to speak to our @nbccamps day camp in Montesano today! He had a great message for the kids about being a great teammate and having great effort and attitude in everything you do!

@jimshapiro Best one I’ve ever had was this year and was actually legit, from a kid who is never late to anything and a top notch kid, “I’m going to be late to practice, I’m pulling a calf.” After a little confusion from myself, I quickly understood after seeing the pic he sent 😂

I’m gonna write a book titled, The Top 100 Excuses Why I Can’t Make it Practice. There have been some real winners. “Coach, I can’t make it to practice today, my sister is hosting a bake sale and I need to help her.” “Coach, I can’t make it to practice, there is a big concert coming to town and I need to stand in line to get tickets.” “Coach, I can’t make it to practice today, I have a runny nose and my mom wants me to stay home and rest.” These are usually the same athletes that wonder why they aren’t starting or getting playing time during the season. I appreciate their honesty though. That’s something I can work with.
