Feb. 12, 1949 DePaul upset no. 11 Loyola, 55-45. The Blue Demons jumped on LU early with a 12-3 lead after 11 min. and didn’t look back. Gordie Gillespie led DPU with 16 pts. He concluded his 58-year college baseball coaching career with an NCAA-best record of 1,893-952.
