People are still struggling to afford daily living costs. It is no longer a crisis, and is becoming the new normal. 😩 By the end of September, Citizens Advice had already helped more people who cannot top up their prepayment meter than they did in 2022. wearecitizensadvice.org.uk

Excellent research. Illegal money lenders are back on the rise. 3m were declined for credit last year, many would have resorted to these. Community lenders, credit unions & banks all have a shared role to put a stop to this @Five_Lamps @ConduitLoans

Specialist researchers spoke to 8 illegal lenders and 287 borrowers in 4 locations about their experiences and the ease in which they found illegal lending in their community. Borrowers face intimidation and threats to repay, but in many cases view this as an occupational hazard.
