DHMS Band 🎶

Today we created Musical Pictures! Each class decided on a category, then Ss worked in groups to create music that painted a picture of something in that category. Today’s categories: the ocean & cheese. Ss used instruments, Chrome Music Lab, & Noteflight w/ creative results!

This week we made music! For the first time in quite a while, the DHMS band students were able to play instruments together in the classroom. It was great!!

Five years in a row! Once again, APS was honored with the NAMM Foundation’s Best Communities for Music Education award 🥰🎶

Today DHMS Wind Ensemble Ss participated in a songwriting workshop by H-B teacher, Dan Paris! Students worked through a creative process, creating a title, hook, and lines for a chorus! It was a fun morning and we greatly appreciate Dan’s time 😊 #virtualmusicclass #apsartsthrive

6th grade band students worked in groups to teach the class about various musical terms. They learned about their topic, then created slideshows, stories, games, and more to teach their classmates! #virtualmusicclass

I am SO impressed by the work of the DHMS Wind Ensemble! In groups, students created their own arrangements of Jodie Blackshaw’s 13 Moons: East. Their creativity was inspiring ☺️ #VirtualMusicClass

They are using a variety of tools like #Noteflight and GarageBand, working together in breakout rooms in Zoom. It’s been fun watching them work 🎶 #VirtualMusicClass #APSArtsThrive

7th & 8th grade band students are working in groups to create their own arrangements of “13 Moons” by Jodie Blackshaw. It’s a composing piece, which means Ms Blackshaw provided the melody and accompaniment, and the students get to make all other musical decisions!

Thanks to our student teacher, Mr. Nuñez, for working with us the last seven weeks! Good luck in your second placement. We’ll miss you!
