@DatahawkJSJ

I'm the most censored man in the history of X for criticizing government. I am the NEW #IWC World Heavyweight Champion (blocked by Meltzer/SRS/Vince Russo!)

@YoniPrime @GoodMicWork Yes, I was trying to avoid the politics of it as much as possible, relevant though they may be. :) That's my concern. I have no desire for #AEW to die. I'm concerned for the talent most of all. ALL talent throughout the business.

@DatahawkJSJ @GoodMicWork No worries, you make a lot of good points. I agree the merger is for control I just didn't want to get into the politics of it. I still think they keep AEW because it's relatively cheap live content, but we'll have to wait and see, if they don't then AEW will be in deep waters.

There’s nothing funnier than the IWC’s biggest douche nozzles DESPERATELY clinging to this belief that AEW will one day “go away“. No matter how many times y’all lay your angry, empty, brainless heads on your pillow and literally PRAY for hundreds of people to lose their jobs, it ain’t happening. Get over yourselves, grow up, and get a life. The WBD “story” that you’re all whacking off to isn’t true.
WrestleCringe@WRESTLECringe

If true (it's not), then WBD would have cancelled them 8 months into new deal, prior to putting PPVs on HBOMax, and prior to even knowing who they'd be selling to/merging with. Deranged. Also unemployed.

@Billdo1983 @YoniPrime @GoodMicWork Yeah, they are going to wrap HBO Max into P+ when it closes. Plus, PSD already has a working relationship with TKO. It seems like TK was hoping his NFL connections would help it to me, and he needs to keep his talent at all costs to be attractive for a new deal.

@DatahawkJSJ @YoniPrime @GoodMicWork The Paramount deal doesn’t even include TV. WBD is splitting the movie side from the TV side. Paramount wants the movie side, which includes the movie studio & HBO Max.

@mibrardragon @YoniPrime @GoodMicWork They don't have to rush to get rid. Their contract expires in late 2027. They would have to negotiate a new rights deal. No one has said they are getting cancelled. We said their contract won't be renewed and Tony knows it already.

@DatahawkJSJ @YoniPrime @GoodMicWork The Ellison's might not give a sh*t about AEW or anything newly acquired but that doesn't automatically mean they'll rush to get rid. Also if Tony can just get one meeting with them or a key decision maker, I'd fancy his chances to successfully sell AEW to them.

I'm an intelligence analyst. Government and corporations are my thing. I'm just a 40+ year fan whose actually done independent stuff in the past on a local indie. I've been following the merger for months for lots of reasons that have nothing to do with #AEW or any of the other programming.

Actually, wrestling is the hobby portion of my account. I'm an expert in the government and big business, and things like "mergers and acquisitions" which is pretty relevant to the topic. The main poster on this, Nick? He's an agent that represents double-digit talent in the business. So, you have a wrestling content creator arguing with someone whose livelihood is representing entertainment talent, and talent IN THIS BUSINESS. It's funny that they can talk shit about him being an agent, but the content creator is supposed to be an expert?

Your thought is generally sound, I don't want to imply it is not. A big thing is that PSD already works with TKO... even if it isn't mentioned, that will soften their willingness to negotiate a new rights deal for a major partner's asset's main competitor. If I'm right, and they are not renewed when their deal expires, they have little and less for other potential partners. Netflix isn't going to do it, for obvious reasons. Amazon's not going to do it. (AEW on Amazon truly amounts to AEW having a storefront... you could buy one yourself for $39.99/mo, fully branded.) Do the Ellison's want to compete with Netflix? Sure, and certainly they want it to be seen that way. The main reason they are merging is simple though... control. I don't want to go into a deep-dive on the Ellison's as this post is already long, but most of my knowledge on this matter has very little to do with wrestling. Nick's an agent. My expertise is NOT in wrestling, it's just my lifelong hobby. I know business and government. The Ellison's don't give a shit about AEW. Negotiating with them will hardly be a priority. The contract will meet its term and won't be renewed. Sorry for writing you a book, but you're one of the only thoughtful responses in debate I've received. :)

@DatahawkJSJ @GoodMicWork The Ellison's want to compete with Netflix and you need all the content you can get to do that. AEW may not be a massive IP, but it's popular live content and right now that is king for OTT services and along with an $80B+ debt from the merge this is relatively cheap live content

@campu_brian @GoodMicWork Me being a Punk fan has nothing to do with it. I still like #AEW. I watch their shows. It doesn't make me stop understanding mergers and acquisitions. I don't want AEW dead. It would be fucking horrible for the industry.

@MetsxJets @ringsidenews_ You have to remember. 1. Charlotte is 40. 2. Charlotte JUST spent a whole year in the midcard already. 3. People like Nash are already telling you "They don't respect the legends enough." Maybe she doesn't get fired... but her push hasn't been good to start with...

@MetsxJets @ringsidenews_ Remind me, did Rikishi also drunkenly threaten one of their talents over his daughter to the point he was already banned from WrestleMania? If he was just talking about wrestling, that's one thing. TKO doesn't have to humor Ric's alcoholism like Vince would have, dude.

@MetsxJets @ringsidenews_ Paul Levesque is an employee. A highly-paid employee, but an employee. Stop thinking the McMahon's still own shit. They don't. The TKO Board aren't wrestling people. Dwayne Johnson is ONE vote of a 13-person Board of Directors.

@_cosplaywaifu Yeah! I mean what do agents and business experts know about a $110,000,000,000 merger that you don't, right?

@YoniPrime @GoodMicWork You're welcome to think that. You don't know me from Adam, so you don't have to believe my thoughts... but, the Ellison's have zero interest in AEW... It's a $110B merger and AEW's media rights are an EXTREMELY small portion of that.

@DatahawkJSJ @GoodMicWork One of the reasons why Ellison wants WBD was because they don't have real content on Paramount that keeps people around. AEW is consistent numbers and top 3 show on TNT/TBS. Paramount will very likely keep it on whatever merged streamer Paramount creates.

@ringsidenews_ I'm not shocked. The roster has been crazy bloated for years. With SD dropping back to 2hrs, and RAW generally running less than 2.5, there's only so much talent that fits onto TV, plus injury backup. I've expected them to streamline for some time now.
