The 0.08% rise in defence spending as share of GDP between 2027 and 2030 is all the more unfathomable because Healey reveals the UK intelligence assessment is that Russia could attack a NATO country before 2030. If anything illustrates Starmer is unfit to be PM, it’s that.

Perhaps the grimmest part of John Healey’s brutal resignation letter is that defence spending, projected to be 2.6% GDP by 2027, will only reach 2.68% in 2030. A pathetic 0.08% increase over three years after all that Starmer rhetoric about the dangerous times we live in and how UK would lead the way stepping up to the crease. A real leader would have told Reeves to cough up the dosh and ordered Miliband to hand over a big chunk of his net zero budget. But he’s probably too weak to do either.

Labour is pushing through its dangerous Digital ID scheme.
Today’s Budget confirmed it will cost AT LEAST £1.8bn.
It will do nothing to stop illegal immigration or illegal working.

Serious questions are being raised about NHS waiting list figures after a sharp rise in patients being removed from waiting lists without treatment.
In March alone, more than 350,000 patients were removed.

Our government seems more bothered about stopping people seeing bad stuff happening, then it does about stopping the bad stuff happening.
It is said bad stuff which is inciting disorder. Trying to hide it from people will make things worse, not better.
It blows my mind that in moments like this, instead of thinking “right, we really need to stop the issues giving people cause for concern’ this government instead thinks ‘what we need to do, is control people even further’…

Those who use social media to incite violence and disorder are breaking the law. Next week we will lay in Parliament an update to the Online Safety Act requiring services to take quicker action to remove illegal content circulating during times of crisis.

Just a pity you haven’t increased defence spending to cover the cost of this necessary 14% pay rise. You’re taking it from other parts of the defence budget, further hollowing out our military, which started under the Tories.

Has it never occurred to you that one of the main reasons that’s true (largely) is that the UK is no longer subject to the sort of Brussels’ prudential regulatory regimes that have already stymied AI in the European Union and are turning the EU into a mid-tech backwater? No? Never?

The idea that a government populated by ministers who, combined, have close to zero proper business experience, dribbling out small dollops of cash to companies they favour will play any role in finding ‘the UK’s first trillion-dollar firm’ really is one for the ages. If it ever happens it will be despite the government, not because of it. They really have no clue.

For the leftie idiots commenting …In 2025, more than 40,000 doctors applied for 12,833 specialty training posts.
Of those applicants, 15,723 were UK trained doctors and 25,257 were overseas trained doctors competing for the same places.
The GMC says 138,405 doctors who qualified abroad were licensed to practise in the UK, representing 42% of all licensed doctors.
It is a waste of our talent and our money to give visas to foreign doctors when we have thousands here unable to find places.
