₦10 million isn't crazy markup in my opinion, it's definitely on the high side but I wouldn't go as far as calling it evil. The ones adding 50% markup or more however, are the real evil folks. Car dealerships is incredibly capital-intensive. Dealers tie up huge amounts of money in inventory, take on huge financial risks, cover shipping, customs, storage, staff, and operating costs, and then sometimes have to wait months before sell one car. Cars aren't fast-moving products. I completely understand your frustration, especially if you know how to source the car yourself and can avoid paying the premium. But not everyone has that knowledge, the right contacts, or the time to navigate the process. In many cases, people are paying not just for the car, but for the convenience, expertise, and the risks the dealer has already absorbed. Knowledge and information have value, and that's part of what the markup reflects.

@bossolamilekan1 If that landing cost is accurate, that's a huge markup. But people also forget dealers factor in duties, logistics, exchange rate fluctuations, overhead, and profit. The real question is whether the premium is justified

All these talks are not even necessary…. A good car dealer who import cars should do a thread on how people can source for cars and import themselves… If you have the mind and can take the risk put your full body and wait for your car to arrive … by doing so you’re saving more money..
