The UK has the oldest housing stock in Europe, & it's costing us in both health & money - but it's also costing the environment. We need a retrofitting program, & we also need a *lot* of new, energy efficient, higher density homes.

A mass-insulation programme for the nation's draughty homes, along with a rollout of heat pumps, could keep us warmer in winter and cooler in summer - at the same time as reducing the need to burn polluting, expensive gas for central heating. 4/4

Your regular reminder that governments subsidise flying by not taxing aviation fuel.

NEARLY £6 billion! 💷💷 That’s how much we could have raised in 2023 if aviation fuel was taxed the same as the fuel that goes into our cars. But the UK doesn’t tax aviation fuel at all, and never has. 🧵
