Nick Fuentes will never be invited to Yale. He will never be at Vanity Fair parties. He will never sit down and have casual conversations about killing and stealing with someone from the Times. He won’t be defended by Ezra Klein. Hasan runs in the most elite circles. Wake up.

They were paying the *leaders* of these extremist groups. It is by definition impossible to call that an informant arrangement. It is like paying an arsonist to report on fires his own operation is setting, instead of paying him not to light the fires in the first place.
CBS Evening News with Tony Dokoupil@CBSEveningNews

The Department of Justice has charged the Southern Poverty Law Center with fraud for misleading donors and lying to financial institutions – allegedly by paying members of violent extremist groups millions of dollars to act as informants. The law center interim president said the group had long used informants and called the indictment a political attack by the Trump administration.

One thing that’s been very conspicuous over the past 24 hours is how many big name Democrats are lashing out over the SPLC charges, making totally ridiculous claims that they are baseless or illegitimate, even though there is a grand jury indictment. It’s so completely detached from any semblance of rational thought that you have to wonder whether some of these politicians are themselves implicated.
Richard Blumenthal@SenBlumenthal

Trump’s baseless attack on the Southern Poverty Law Center shows his politicized DOJ once again persecuting anyone who defends civil rights & fights hate-fueled violence. It’s a vengeance agenda. npr.org/2026/04/21/g-s…

I want you to imagine a world in which Nick Shirley committed crimes to pay "informants" to help organize fraud in daycares so he could then show up and "expose" the fraud. Do you think Rep. Dan Goldman would be saying it's no big deal and just "paying informants?" Be honest.

Seems like it's time for another Reece Committee, or something like it. The SPLC is likely the very tip of a large iceberg that needs to get discovered, exposed, and busted up.
Nobody likes my posts. Thanks Elon@Brucekathy

@Fair_and_Biased @ConceptualJames This “whole other level” is the operational level. The operators have been at this level for years now. Maybe 100 years in the US. It’s just that we don’t often get such a clear picture of the operations. Take it all in while the curtain is open!

Note that the FBI isn't a 501(c)(3) that operates as a charity on a tax exempt basis. If a "charity" spends donor money for non-charitable purposes, it puts the tax-deductibility of those donations in question. How do SLPC donors feel about that? Do you think that information, if disclosed, might have influenced the decisions of donors. There are "Fraud" aspects here that go beyond the idea that "exposing racists is a worthwhile mission, however that happens." Maybe. But it is not a "charitable" mission. Being a "charity" includes disclosure and reporting requirements. I think we've not yet heard the end of the Gov't case.
Ken Bensinger@kenbensinger

Per the indictment, the DOJ's case vs the SPLC is based on the theory that it defrauded donors by using funds "for the benefit of" extremist groups rather than to "dismantle" them. The mechanism: paying informants. Note that the FBI pays informants in extremist groups.
