Hot take: the hbomberguy Pathologic video essay is good because of the things it leaves out, it lets people who get into the games via the video to still be surprised. He's probably happy that people get invested in Pathologic so much that they get upset at the essay in hindsight

i don't know too much about Tsukihime but i'm pretty sure YTTD is the only one where the dev has not explicitly stated "I am not working on this right now and have no plans to do so in the near future"

@RANK10YGO i love how the devs were so sure and confident in this idea that they remade the entire game like 5 years later. i remember playing blades of time and thinking "i must be one of like 5 people to immediately recognise that this is a remake/reboot of X-Blades"

- most VPN's are blocked & won't work with JP sites
- paypal won't save you, foreign cards denied? you're screwed
- add JP only phone verification to top it off
they make it impossible to access anything without the help from someone physically in japan

I feel like the argument of "Just learn Japanese if you want to get into media" is quite inutile because I've basically done just that and yet I still cannot purchase a number of Japanese media I want from official source because *reads notes* "region locked".

When the Chainsaw Man anime ended, my brother went out to try and purchase Fight Song by Eve
The only legal options were streaming. But he wanted to be able to listen to it offline, and to support the publisher directly. He went to a Japanese site where it does sell it in that capacity, but it blocked him out because he wasn't Japanese. I think even using VPN didn't work because the financial info was flagged as not Japanese.
So yeah, piracy will continue until we can actually support the artwork in the way we want.
