You said it...he just got extended...hes a clear cut starter and then lost his job to a 23 y/o making 2.2 mil that will need a new deal after next year. Gotta ask.

I still am of the belief that having a soft, loser GM at the top resulted in the #NJDevils being… well… a soft, loser team. Buffalo got rid of their GM and look what happens. Sometimes the needed culture change can come from who’s at the top.

@LockedOnDevils They cant run it back with same core...they absolutely cannot do that...how many opportunities this core gonna get together? They need to make significant blockbuster changes. They wouldn't survive a playoff round as constituted. They would get the sh*t kicked out of them.

@16Dubb They're not...they have speed and skill, but that doesnt get you into the playoffs or winning series. The teams in the playoffs now have actual MEN on their rosters, battle tested men that savagely hate to lose and will stop at nothing to win a cup. They wouldn't survive.

@BFem09 My point of this back & forth is that everything needs to be explored. This is an unsuccessful group. We just talk Nico now cause his contract is up. The biggest issue, is goaltending. If they dont dump the Marky contract and get a competitive goalie in here nothing will matter.

@BFem09 Jack Hughes ain't on the ice, and that is a problem in itself as well. A lot of things with this core haven't worked. It cannot remain status quo here. Jack going out is big problem, and Bratt, Timo, Luke, Mercer w/ Nico leading them not being able to carry it is a BIGGER problem

@pitchforkedpuck @DevilsInsiders Thats why I said on another post that goaltending needs to be the #1 priority for this team...the Nico contract is a far distant 2nd, and its not even close. This new GM needs to move heaven and earth to straighten this goaltending out, or nothing else matters. Stupid contracts.
