@UnspokenDee @AzPetrich My point is people need to stop saying Juneteenth was the end of slavery when it wasn't. They should have left it as a Texas holiday where it belonged. If we want a national holiday, let's do a 13th Amendment day in December.

I went to the Juneteenth Celebration in majority Black Prince George’s County. I had to get the F🤬ck out of there! Why are there NIGERIANS mcing the event? And they are playing traditional Nigerian songs. WTF does this have to do with Juneteenth? The disrespect is too much.

The thing that annoys me about Juneteenth isn’t that it exists, like if they’d just said “hey, we’re making this niche regional Texas holiday a national thing” we could have had a conversation about that, but instead they just declared that it has always been a thing and if you admitted to never having heard about it before it means you’re racist

From barbecue to red velvet cake, kool aid, and watermelon, the foods traditionally eaten on Juneteenth all share one commonality. @MicahSmith_TV learns more, here: tinyurl.com/2n5vh6wd

Juneteenth is a fake-ass history holiday for people who hate the Fourth of July. Slaves were freed in 1865 by White men who died in the Civil War, not by some Texas messenger two years late. Stop pretending it's your independence day, parasites.

REMINDER! Before the libs decide to try and create their own definition of what Juneteenth is, allow me to help you all out with a short history lesson. It’s the day when black individuals found out that the first Republican President had signed the Emancipation Proclamation freeing them from the physical bondage of the Democrat Party. It was two years later, on July 4th 1867, that 150 of those same Black men met in Houston and established the Republican Party of Texas. The Democrats, in response, established the Ku Klux Klan. Today, the Democrats are economically enslaving Blacks and have turned inner city communities into modern plantations of welfare and economic dependence. Juneteenth is a celebration of why the Republican Party was established in 1854, the abolition of slavery. Only a flaming incompetent idiot would give the party of the donkey any credit for Juneteenth. Hope this helps!

Juneteenth is not just about Black Texans. It is also about the Black soldiers who liberated themselves, kicked Confederate ass across the Deep South for 2+ years, marched to Galveston, Texas, and liberated folks there, too. Nothing in Black history happened in a vacuum.

Juneteenth is for Black Americans, specifically Black Texans. You are welcomed to host an event but if it is not catered to Black Americans & Black American culture, don’t label it a Juneteenth event. So no, afrobeats/dancehall/etc. should not be the focus of Juneteenth events

Today, on Juneteenth, we remember the lasting legacy of slavery. We recommit to creating a future where Black Americans live free from oppression and to rooting out systemic racism wherever it exists. That is not the work of a single day, but of every day until it is reality.

Juneteenth is more than a celebration…it is a reminder of the strength, resilience, and perseverance of Black people. Even after enduring slavery, segregation, discrimination, and every obstacle placed in our path, we continue to rise, create, lead, and inspire. Today we honor those who came before us, those who fought for freedom they were denied, and those whose sacrifices made our progress possible. We celebrate Black excellence, Black culture, Black joy, and the unbreakable spirit that has carried us through generations. Freedom was delayed…but our strength never was. Black history is American history. Black excellence is forever. Have a beautiful Juneteenth, and continue walking in your power, purpose, and pride. ✊🏾🖤❤️💚

The joy, pride, and community felt at the Buffalo Juneteenth Parade is a powerful reminder of why we honor this history. It’s always the right choice to recognize and celebrate freedom as we march forward in our fight for racial justice. Happy Juneteenth, New York! 🖤❤️💚
