Something a lot of combat veterans struggle with is why they made it back home and their friends didn’t.
They were better men, fathers and husbands with families.
Something I wrestled with for a long time.
Wasn’t until after we had my son that it finally dawned on me.
He needed to born, he needed dad. That’s why I survived.
You have purpose. God has a plan for you.
You honor their memory by living a life of service to those around you.
Be an American worthy of their sacrifice.
Keep moving forward.

Unless someone is still pretty young, and even if very religious, still pretty young, seeking a virgin is most likely selecting for a woman who is not interested in sex, awkward, neurotic, and unpleasant. I think particularly with women, after a certain age, it's often an indication of traits that are difficult to partner with.

Men want virgins and there isn’t anything wrong with that, but I don’t think these guys realize what they’re getting. A modern virgin is either going to be a) weird, b) very religious, or c) both (most likely). This is the real madonna-whore complex.

Women who are having a bad time in marriage... get divorced. And are usually happier for it. Many just see other marriages, their parents' marriage, experience relationships with men and think, "This doesn't seem particularly enjoyable, I'd rather be independent and free..."
This why I never wanted to get married. The marriages I saw around me just didn't seem desirable and I was always very attached to my autonomy and independence.
I realize there are people out there with happy marriages they enjoy! But there are many more that are depressing, abusive, oppressive, stressful, and just.. not very fun?

The stance I've come to is that there's benefits for these types to make and enforce behavioral guidelines in the public square. This does create a necessary order to society. Where they fail is that they overreach into attempting enforcement into people's private lives. Keep weirdos weird but let them go be weird off on their own.

@wil_da_beast630 True, from my sample size of 1. We’ve been married 41 years and my husband’s attraction to me has not lessened one single bit, as far as I can tell. Pretty sure he isn’t faking it either. I don’t get it. I don’t think I’m pretty anymore.

It's worth noting, re twitter's past-few-days topic, that this really isn't what the literature finds. Most healthy men are attracted to a range of women, FROM young but physically/sexually adult TO "MILFy." Women in their early 20s are seen as most attractive by everyone, but this was by .6 points (and they were seen as worse in bed).
If you build up a stockpile of romantic, sexual, domestic, and financial memories with your husband, he isn't going to want to leave when you turn 30...or 40...or 50. Most male disgust with marriage traces very specifically to behavior - fading sex, lack of physical fitness (the average US woman is 5'4" and 170), constant argument - and not to appearance. I suspect the same is true for women, re modern men.

@Hitchslap1 It doesn’t make me angry, but it saddens me to think that lasting love might not be real and that someday I’ll “expire” in the eyes of my husband. It makes marriage seem like a bad deal
