During our recently held State of the District program, the Newton County Board of Education proudly presented its highest honor, the Almond J. Turner Legacy Award for Leadership and Service. This award was created in memory of Almond J. Turner, former Covington Assistant Chief of Police and school board member, whose legacy of leadership and service continues to inspire our community. His life’s work reminds us that one person can make a lasting difference. The inaugural awardee, Mrs. Louise Adams, embodies that same spirit of service and leadership. Having served as a teacher, assistant principal, and school principal as well as on numerous boards and community groups, her legacy of community service has left a lasting impact on Newton County, and we are honored to recognize her contributions with this special award.
