@nxd1979 @Pyrorufus I don't really think that's the point like obviously the US is an imperial power that has destroyed disenfranchised and reshaped the world and horrific ways for power. but that tour guide was purposefully being weird and also an asshole.

Back in 2014 I was on a walking tour of Dresden and our guide kept referring to the firebombing destroying this or that building until an American girl in her 20s raised her hand to ask "sorry, who firebombed Dresden?" and the group fell so silent you could hear a pin drop

Men! Please pay attention. I attended a wedding recently. The Save the Date, official invitation, and reminder texts all stated guests are to wear ALL BLACK COCKTAIL ATTIRE. One woman was in green. She asked me in the ladies’ room if there was a dress code, I told her yes. She was a plus one and her date only told her to wear a nice dress. She was the only one in attendance who wasn’t in black. She was beautifully dressed, but still, HE should have told her. Details are important, fellas.

@702ValetParker I'm not going to lie. I feel a lot of this has to do with people's misunderstanding of feminism surrounding race and class but no conforming to a beauty standard is not feminism even if you do it for personal preference. that's not an insult or an attack or even a bad thing

This is such a weird take because feminism was supposed to be about agency and choice, not making sure women frame every personal grooming decision as a political hostage negotiation with the patriarchy. Shaving because you want to shave is fine. Not shaving because you don’t want to shave is fine. Shaving because social norms make life easier is also fine. Recognizing social pressure is feminist. Having personal preferences is feminist. Doing something because you genuinely like how it looks or feels is also feminist. Autonomy doesn’t stop being autonomy just because your choice overlaps with a beauty standard. If feminism only “counts” when women are doing things they don’t actually want to do just to prove a political point, then that’s not liberation, that’s just a different set of rules telling women what they’re allowed to do with their bodies.

i know this has y’all in your feels & it might sound harsh, but if a MAN is out on the street with no where to go and no one looking out it’s usually because they’ve done something unforgivable or they are an extremely unpredictable risk because history shows there will ALWAYS be a woman to give them somewhere to lay their head if they’re still somewhat “decent”… as soon as i saw this video i got flashbacks to “unc and nai” & could tell this would soon turn sour as well. being overly empathetic can put you in some strange situations—please be careful.
