Last week Ambassador Pohjankukka visited Belene, the last remaining communist labor camp in Bulgaria where she met with Zheko Stoyanov, a survivor and powerful symbol of resilience. Now 86, Zheko remains engaged, positive, and forgiving.

Recreation day - making an enriching trip to Lovech where we visited the Etnographic museum, strolled on the cobbled streets of Varosha quarter, admired the only covered bridge on the Balkans, and as a highlight we reverenced one of the marvels of nature - the Proghodna cave. 🚌
