It's the season of Spring Cleaning! Here are some tips to keep in mind when you're cleaning up the inside and outside of your home #FireSafety

Centre Wellington Fire Rescue would like to wish everyone a safe Easter long weekend! Please note that the Fire Administration Office will be closed on Good Friday (April 3) and Easter Monday (April 6). The office will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, April 7.

When you see a vehicle with a green flashing light - please pull over! It's a volunteer firefighter responding to a call. By pulling over you allow the firefighter to get to the station quicker so that they can help someone in need.

Keep flammable items like over mitts and wooden utensils away from the stovetop. Let's keep the flames where they belong - under control! #FireSafety

After a winter storm or snowfall, be sure to clear your gas meter! Gently use a broom or soft brush to remove snow/ice - never use sharp objects, a shovel or a blower on the natural gas meter and vents. Avoid hitting and kicking the natural gas meter and vents. #FireSafety

Check your electrical cords! Frayed or damaged cords can spark fires. Inspect them regularly to reduce risk and keep your home safe. #ElectricalSafety #BurnAwareness #BurnPrevention

🔊 Live in an apartment or condo building? This message is for you! If there is a fire in your building, forget the elevator! Always use the stairs to escape. Elevators may be unavailable, get called to the ground floor, or stop on fire-affected floors. Stairs are your lifeline!

The cold weather brings out the need for portable heaters, but remember: ➡️ Keep them away from curtains, furniture, and any flammable material. ➡️ Don't run the cord under a rug. ➡️ Do not plug into extension cords; always plug into a wall outlet.
