He was the first child to be born on a Kibbutz. Reuven Tzinder was the first child to be born in the Hashomer Kibbutz of Beit Alfa. The Kibbutz and it's young workers lacked the resources to raise a child and his father fell ill. His parents Gusta and Aryeh Tzinder moved back to Poland where Reuven showed himself to be brilliant and hard-working. As WWII broke out the Nazis came and murdered his parents as Reuven fled to the Soviet Union were he joined the army and came back to fight the Nazis until Berlin was defeated. Reuven decided to go back to his native Israel, arriving in 1946. There, he began studying at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, quickly distinguishing himself as one of the most promising students in mathematics. But history intervened once more. Following the UN partition vote in November 1947, he left the classroom for the battlefield. He joined the Haganah, escorting convoys and defending Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem. In 1948 as Palestinians attempted to murder all the Jewish residents of the Makor Hayim neighborhood in Jerusalem, Reuven was killed as he was defending this neighborhood. The life that began on a Kibbutz, survived the Holocaust, and defeated the Nazis, was killed by Palestinians while defending the newly born state of Israel. May his memory be a blessing 🕯️

In October of 1943, 400 Orthodox rabbis marched to Washington DC demanding something be done to save the millions of Jews who were being murdered in Europe. Circled in this picture is my great-grandfather Rabbi Eliezer Poupko with my great uncle Rabbi Yitzchak Poupko. The 400 rabbis were denied a meeting with anyone in the White House. The effort seemed to be an exercise of futility accomplishing nothing. Yet as a result of this March in 1944 President Roosevelt created the War Refugee Board which had sent Swedish diplomat 🇸🇪 Raoul Wallenberg to Budapest where he helped save tens of thousands of people, if not more. No matter how impossible the chances are, we never have permission not to do our best. "It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you free to desist from it.” (Pirkei Avot 2 :16)

Dear college students who so fervently protested for months across America: Iran is hanging kids your own age for doing exactly what you did - protesting. Why aren’t you standing up for Iranians who desperately want freedom? nypost.com/2026/04/05/wor…

Reid Wiseman told his two teenage daughters where to find his will before he got on this rocket. He’s raised them alone since their mom died of cancer six years ago. Right now, he is 252,757 miles from home, farther from Earth than any human being has ever been. Wiseman grew up outside Baltimore. Got rejected from the Naval Academy, went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute instead, studied computer engineering. Became a Navy fighter pilot, flew F-14 Tomcats (the jet from Top Gun) on combat missions over Iraq and Afghanistan. Two Middle East deployments by his mid-twenties. He saw a Space Shuttle launch in person in 2001 and couldn’t let go of it. Applied to NASA while at sea on the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. They picked him. Nine people out of 3,500 applicants. His astronaut class, nicknamed “The Chumps,” included Jeremy Hansen, the Canadian who’s floating next to him right now. Wiseman’s first trip to space was 165 days on the Space Station in 2014. Two spacewalks. Thirteen hours outside the hull in nothing but a suit. He climbed all the way up to Chief of the Astronaut Office, the person who decides which astronauts fly and which ones sit. Then he gave it up in 2022 to put himself back on the flight list. His wife Carroll was a nurse in a newborn intensive care unit. She got cancer. Fought it five years. Died in May 2020 at 46. His mother died from Alzheimer’s just weeks before that. Wiseman raised both daughters by himself after that. NASA’s own bio says he considers being a single parent his hardest challenge and the best part of his life. Even while she was dying, Carroll told Reid not to step back from his career. She made him keep going. His brother is a Navy SEAL. His father is 83 and battling cancer too. The old man told reporters he wanted to stay alive long enough to see his son launch. Before liftoff, Wiseman’s daughters snuck homemade cookies into his flight bag. He posted a photo with them in front of the rocket and wrote “I’m boarding that rocket a very proud father.” The previous distance record from Earth belonged to the Apollo 13 crew. 248,655 miles, set in April 1970, and it was an accident. An oxygen tank blew up and the emergency route home happened to swing them farther out than anyone before. Wiseman broke that record by 4,100 miles, and his distance is on purpose. Today he flies within 4,600 miles of the Moon, photographs stretches of the far side that were too dark or at the wrong angle for any of the 24 Apollo astronauts to see, and watches a solar eclipse that nobody on Earth can see, only the four people inside that capsule. Then he turns around and spends four days flying home to his girls.

Over 82% of gunshot wounds in Gazan children were recorded by the Gaza Ministry of Health to have come from AK-47s. Israel does not use AK-47s. Hamas does.
Dilly Hussain@DillyHussain88

Almost 60% of gunshot wounds that killed Palestinian children in Gaza were directly to the head and chest. They were targeted. It is not an “antisemitic blood libel” to call Israelis who fight for the IDF baby killers.

When our F-15E navigator was shot down over hostile territory in Iran, reports say he relied on the CSEL (Combat Survivor Evader Locator) device to survive on the ground for 48 hours. This is a GENIUS device. It is integrated directly into our soldiers tactical vests and uses satellite to communicate with command. It comes pre-loaded with topographic maps and intelligence data to aid soldiers in navigating toward designated safe zones without needing to wait for directions. Rather than speaking over a radio—which could easily expose physical location or be intercepted—this brilliant invention uses encrypted text messages with location updates every few hours. The device transmits data using ultra-short signal bursts and rapid frequency hopping, effectively disguising the communication as random background noise that enemy forces cannot triangulate. It also has mode capabilities to quickly allow realtime location data to aid in rescues. I feel grateful that our soldiers have such tools to keep them alive and get them rescued. It looks like we started using these in 2006.

I saw my step-brother-in-law at Easter. Not a military guy. Fantastic guy, but we are into very different things. He runs an organic yogurt marketing firm in NYC and runs marathons. I was a little nervous because I’m getting a security clearance for a side project and had to list ALL family members. He is not a military or government person in any way. He knows my son is a Space Operations minor @ERAU_Daytona and is always supportive, but more like a good uncle than an enthusiast. Politely interested. Asks nice questions. Changes the subject. Anyway, he just got back from a family trip to Miami. I asked him casually if he could see the launch from that far south. His face absolutely lit up. “We had front row seats!” “What do you mean?” He meant he packed the whole family into the car on a whim and drove to Cape Canaveral. I have known this man for years. I have never seen him light up like that. Not about yogurt. Not about marathons. Not about anything. He was talking about that rocket the way people talk about something that changed them. There is something happening in America right now. Some rekindling of something deep. The kind of thing you can’t manufacture with a marketing campaign or a policy paper. A yogurt marketing guy from the suburbs drove his kids hours on a whim to watch fire push metal into the sky, and came home looking like he’d seen going of to the - how did that kid on CNN put it? - “F’n moon” It’s an exciting time to be American

The world stopped to watch Artemis II. Moments like this remind us what is possible and inspire the next generation to dream bigger and take us even further. We are just getting started on this grand adventure. It is time to start believing again.

Gen. Patton on profanity: “When I want my men to remember something important, to really make it stick, I give it to them double dirty. It may not sound nice to some bunch of little old ladies at an afternoon tea party, but it helps my soldiers to remember. You can’t run an army without profanity; and it has to be eloquent profanity. An army without profanity couldn’t fight its way out of a piss-soaked paper bag.”
